Cahaya Sholawat

Sudah sering dengar lagu ini di kaset Raihan yang saya punya sejak lama, tapi baru benar2 terasa efeknya pas lagi ngikutin ESQ training tahun 2006. Nyanyinya sampai haru biru, gemetaran and berurai airmata. Indeed, we miss our prophet Muhammad Rasulullah, but somehow kita sering salah dan melupakan ajarannya.

Btw, saya lebih suka versi sholawat aslinya yang bahasa arab itu, tapi kaset yang saya punya cuma Hadad Alwi n Sulis, yg iramanya jd lucu (habis itu album anak2 jg)… yang seperti ini syairnya:

Yaa Nabi salaam ‘alaika
yaa Rasul salaam ‘alaika
yaa Habiib salam ‘alaika
sholawattullah ‘alaika

Asyroqol badru ‘alainaa
fakhtafat minhul buduuru
mitsla husnik maa ro-ainaa
qoththu yaa wajhas suruuri

Anta syamsun anta badrun
Anta nuurun fauqo nuuri
Anta iksiiru wa ghooli
Anta misbaahus-shuduuri

Yaa habiibi yaa Muhammad
yaa ‘aruusal khoofiqoini
yaa muayyad yaa mumajjad
yaa imaamal qiblataini

Oke deh langsung aja lihat lyrics nya Raihan :

Ya Nabi Salam Alaika
Ya Rasul Salam Alaika
Ya Habib Salam Alaika
Solawatullah Alaika

Ya Rasul Kau Bawa Cahaya
Menyinari Alam Buana
Bumi Tandus
Subur Kembali
Rasa Gembira Di Hati

Lahirmu Membawa Rahmat
Memimpin Ke Jalan Selamat
Akhlakmu Yang Sungguh Memikat
Contoh Buat Seluruh Umat

Mulianya Pengorbananmu
Kebaikan Yang Kau Seru

Biarpun Halangan Menimpa
Namun Dirimu Tetap Tabah

Ya Muhammad Yang Berjasa
Quran Dan Sunnahlah Pusaka
Menjadi Panduan Manusia
Untuk Hidup Aman Sentosa

Message in A Bottle

I always love the Police’s songs: Roxanne, Every Breath You Take, Synchronicity II, and many more. Lysricsnya yang oke banget…and the music sederhana aja tapi menunjukkan kepiawaian tiga personelnya. Message in a Bottle ini yang paling simple lyricsnya menurutku. Check this out:

Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day, with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh

I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life but
Love can break your heart

I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah

Walked out this morning, don’t believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I’m not alone in being alone
Hundred billion castaways, looking for a home

I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I’ll send an S.O.S. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah

Sending out at an S.O.S.
Sending out at an S.O.S.
Sending out at an S.O.S.
Sending out at an S.O.S.
Sending out at an S.O.S.
Sending out at an S.O.S…

Don’t Cry

What can I say, it rocks… ini lagu jadul jaman masih kuliah dulu. But OMG izo wonderful! I feel nice of rock music when I listen to this song. Awesome. There are quite a few mess up in the lyrics, but the song is still BEAUTIFUL. This songs always makes me happy as hell. Luv it. Luv GNR 4eva. Slash n Axl hot. Just check out!

Don’t Cry

Talk to me softly
There’s something in your eyes
Don’t hang your head in sorrow
And please don’t cry
I know how you feel inside I’ve
I’ve been there before
Somethin’s changin’ inside you baby
And don’t you know

Don’t you cry tonight
I still love you
Don’t you cry tonight
Don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry tonight

Give me a whisper
And give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you tell me goodbye
Don’t you take it so hard now
And please don’t take it so bad
I’ll still be thinking of you
And the times we had … baby

And don’t you cry tonight
Don’t you cry tomight
Don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry tonight

And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
How I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But you’ll be alright now sugar
You’ll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby

And don’t you cry tonight
An don’t you cry tonight
An don’t you cry tonight
There’s a heaven above you baby
And don’t you cry
Don’t you ever cry
Don’t you cry tonight
Baby maybe someday
Don’t you cry
Don’t you ever cry
Don’t you cry
Tonight

Insan Utama

a song by Hadad Alwi. A very2 touchy song in my heart, le’s shalawat for prophet Muhammad PBUH. The music is very cheerful, taken from Oscar Harris- Song for the Children, but I don’t know, my tears fall down everytime I sing it. Maybe I miss and long for a figure like our rasulullah. Let’s check out the lyrics:

Insan Utama

Engkau mengenalnya
Insan yang utama (Siapakah kiranya?)
Lelaki pilihan
Menjadi utusan
Ia menunjukan
Jalan kebenaran (Muhammad kukira)

Baik hatinya (Baik hatinya)
Santun perangainya (Sungguh santun perangainya)
Jujur katanya (Tak pernah dusta)
Kita menyayangnya (Bersholawatlah baginya)
Ia teladan bagi kita semua (Ia-lah teladan kita)
Sebagai karunia yang diberikan Allah bagi semua
Muhammad nama-Nya
Ikuti jalan-Nya
La la la…

Demi Masa

This is my favorite nasyid song, performed by Raihan from Malyasia. It is inspired by Surah Al -’Ashr, my favorite from Al-Qur’an. Everytime I sing it, I feel tremble inside. Check out the translation of Al- ‘Ashr in English:

The Time

By (the Token of) Time (through the Ages)

verily Man is in loss

except such as have Faith, and do rieghteous deeds, and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth, and of Patience and Constancy.

Now let’s see Raihan’s lyrics:

Demi masa…
Sesungguhnya manusia kerugian
Melainkan…
Yang beriman dan beramal saleh
Ah…

Demi masa…
Sesungguhnya manusia kerugian
Melainkan…
Nasihat kepada kebenaran dan kesabaran
Ah…

#reff 01
Gunakan kesempatan yang masih diberi
Moga kita takkan menyesal
Masa usia kita jangan disiakan
Kerna ia takkan kembali

#ref 02
Ingat lima perkara, sebelum lima perkara
Sihat sebelum sakit
Muda sebelum tua, kaya sebelum miskin
Lapang sebelum sempit
Hidup sebelum mati

Demi masa…
Sesungguhnya manusia kerugian
Melainkan…
Yang beriman dan beramal saleh
Ah…

How I love this song so much!!

Stairway to Heaven

This is my most favorite classical rock! The best song ever by Led Zeppelin. The song  was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Rober Plant for the band’s untitled fourth studio album . The nearly eight-minute song is composed of several sections, which increase in tempo and volume as the song progresses. The song begins as a slow acoustic-based folk song accompanied by recorders (my favorite musical instrument), before electric instrumentation is introduced. The final section is a high-tempo hard-rock highlighted by an intricate guitar solo by Page.

I don’t know how to give the illustration of a Stairway to Heaven, but at least there’s a picture here.

Now let’s check out the lyrics:

“Stairway To Heaven”

There’s a lady who’s sure all that glitters is gold
And she’s buying the stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she’s buying the stairway to heaven.

There’s a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
‘Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there’s a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There’s a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it’s whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow, don’t be alarmed now,
It’s just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There’s still time to change the road you’re on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won’t go, in case you don’t know,
The piper’s calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she’s buying the stairway to heaven.

Cats in the Craddle

I like this song so much. I first heard this song performed by Ugly Kid Joe, later I know that it is actually a folk rock song by Harry Chapin in 1974 from the album Verities & Balderdash. The song is about a father who is too busy to spend time with his son. Although the son repeatedly asks him to join in childhood activities, the father always responds with little more than vague promises of spending time together in the future. While the son longs to spend time with his father, he continues to admire his father. This shapes the son’s future behavior, which turns out to be just like his father. Just check out the following lyrics:

Cat’s in the Cradle
by Sandy & Harry Chapin

My child arrived just the other day,
He came to the world in the usual way.
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
And he was talking ‘fore I knew it, and as he grew,
He’d say, “I’m gonna be like you, dad.
You know I’m gonna be like you.”

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
“When you coming home, dad?” “I don’t know when,
But we’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

My son turned ten just the other day.
He said, “Thanks for the ball, dad, come on let’s play.
Can you teach me to throw?” I said, “Not today,
I got a lot to do.” He said, “That’s ok.”
And he walked away, but his smile never dimmmed,
Said, “I’m gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I’m gonna be like him.”

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
“When you coming home, dad?” “I don’t know when,
But we’ll get together then.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
“Son, I’m proud of you. Can you sit for a while?”
He shook his head, and he said with a smile,
“What I’d really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please?”

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
“When you coming home, son?” “I don’t know when,
But we’ll get together then, dad.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

I’ve long since retired and my son’s moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, “I’d like to see you if you don’t mind.”
He said, “I’d love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see, my new job’s a hassle, and the kid’s got the flu,
But it’s sure nice talking to you, dad.
It’s been sure nice talking to you.”
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me,
He’d grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.

And the cat’s in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
“When you coming home, son?” “I don’t know when,
But we’ll get together then, dad.
You know we’ll have a good time then.”

The Ugly Kid Joe version does not make this lyrical change but rather changes the grammatical structure of the chorus from “When you coming home?” / “Son, I don’t know when …” to the final “When you coming home, son?” / “I don’t know when …” The final verse is a reverse of the roles; where the father asks his now grown-up son to visit, but the son responds with his father’s line. The father then realizes that he and his son are both alike.

This song always reminds me of my friend, Nancy Saija, who keeps on telling me to spent more time with my kids. As she experienced before with her family, she was too busy with her jobs and suddenly she realized that her children had already grown up, and she couldn’t turn back the time, her children do not really need her anymore. Now, she’s living alone, and still busy with her own works atlhough she’s in top of her career, but this time she’s a much wiser woman whomI can share my problems with.
